altafiber is proud to support the future with scholarship for Robert A. Taft Informational Technology High School graduates. Congratulations to NaTaya Johnson and Erionna Johnson this year’s two recipients of altafiber's annual scholarship.
Erionna Johnson, a rising freshman at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Biochemistry, received one of the scholarships. NaTaya Johnson, the second recipient, is planning to major in Kinesiology, the study of human movement, at Wilberforce University.
In speaking with NaTaya Johnson, the second recipient, it is clear she has a plan for her future and won’t be deterred. Her goal is to become a physical therapist and, eventually, have her own practice. She was inspired to consider this career by a physical therapist who spoke at Taft.
“The speaker said she was driven by her desire to help people,” explains Miss Johnson. “I knew that I wanted that as well, to help people. And I also knew that I wanted to learn about how we move, how we function. So I decided Kinesiology was the best path for me to achieve my goals.”
Miss Johnson is also creatively driven, evidenced by her interest in fashion design. She plans on creating her own scrubs to wear at work.
“I like wearing clothes that I design and make. Why not integrate that into my work as a physical therapist?”
When asked if there is anything else she wanted to say about receiving the scholarship from altafiber, she finished with, “The scholarship is going to greatly reduce my student loan debt and be one less thing to worry about. Because, my philosophy is to go big or go home.”
The altafiber scholarship is awarded to two graduating Taft High School seniors who are recommended by Taft administration to apply for the scholarship. The recipients are chosen after a rigorous application and interview process. The scholarship is $5,000, renewable for up to four years and totaling $20,000.
