Father's Day activities your Dad will love

Posted by John C. on Jun 7, 2021 11:05:10 AM

Summer has finally arrived and Father’s Day will be here soon (Don't worry, I had to look it up too…it’s June 20th). With vacations, home projects, graduations, summer sports and more- it can sneak up on you fast. If you don't quite know what you're going to do yet and are looking for some quick ideas, here are a few that don’t require reservations at a restaurant, but will still give Dad the day he was hoping for:

      Go Fishing

Whether you are an avid fisherman or have never even picked up a fishing pole, a fishing trip can be fun and relaxing for the whole family. Head out to your nearest sporting goods store to get some supplies, make sure your fishing license is valid (available online for Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana) and check out some of these great spots around Cincinnati:

      Catch a Movie

There are theaters all over Greater Cincinnati for you and your family to enjoy. We all know that movie theaters have navigated tough times through the pandemic, so this is the perfect opportunity to support local and watch a movie you've never seen. Or, get really creative this Father's Day and try something a little different…Omnimax! Reconnect with the Cincinnati Museum Center and experience an OMNIMAX® movie from a 5-story domed screen with surround-sound. Luckily, there are still tickets left for films showing during Father's Day Weekend:

      • Backyard Wilderness: Spanning a full year of seasons, this film reveals the wild that surrounds even our suburban homes.
      • Great Bear Rainforest: Travel to the land of grizzlies, coastal wolves, sea otters, humpback whales and the fabled white Spirit Bear- one of the rarest animals on Earth.

      Play Ball

Although the Reds aren't in town on Father’s Day this year, you can still head down to the ballpark and check out the Reds Hall of Fame or participate in a Ballpark Tour.  Dad can then relive the good ol' days playing Little League or Knot Hole baseball by hitting one of the many batting cages around Cincinnati. Here are just a few:

      • Fairfield Fun Center is a beautiful spot for family and friends to enjoy time together at one of the miniature golf courses or batting cages for both baseball and softball.
      • Erlanger Batting Cages offers a variety of speeds to challenge batters of different skill levels and ages.

Or, move your Father's Day plans back a weekend and watch the Reds play at home against the Atlanta Braves on Friday, June 25th. Enter to win 4 Fioptics District tickets to this game, along with a $100 Amazon Gift Card and Cuisinart Grilling Set for your Dad at the button below.
