altafiber employees donate their time on behalf of the United Way of Greater Cininnati
altafiber believes it’s the people and places that make Greater Cincinnati such a special place to live. That’s why altafiber employees donate their time to improve the places and spaces across the region. Here’s just one example:
Last fall, an elderly woman with a walker was cleaning debris from the front of her house when a group of altafiber employees, who were volunteering in Bond Hill on behalf of the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, spotted her. They crossed the street and asked how they could help with chores
around the house. The employees cleared the woman’s sidewalk, trimmed bushes, and used a bucket truck to cut unruly branches away from the house.
How do you define a business’ commitment to the community? Is it the number of residents employed? The types of organizations it supports? A demonstrated commitment to culture, arts, and education? altafiber believes it’s all those things and more.
Youth Education is a Focus
On Wednesdays and Thursdays during the school year, about 50 Cincinnati Bell employees tutor and mentor students at Robert A. Taft Technology High School. Students and employees spend an hour talking, studying, and learning from each other. These altafiber employees all share a passion for helping the Taft students succeed.
Committed for More Than 140 Years
altafiber has been in business for more than 140 years, during which time the company has consistently shown its commitment to being more than a communications provider. Leadership and empathy are core values at altafiber, which is committed to the principles of corporate community responsibility and good corporate citizenship.
Supporting Local Causes
In addition to the value altafiber places on volunteer work, our investment in fiber, our relationships with organizations like the Cincinnati Reds, and our recent streetcar sponsorship are just a few additional examples of how we help make the region a better place for all residents.
Here are some of the other ways Cincinnati Bell supports the region:
- United Way – Employees donated $1.8 million to the local 2016 fund-raising campaign, making Cincinnati Bell the fourth-most generous organization.
- altafiber’s Responsible Technology Program – We are helping young students use the Internet responsibly and safely.
- Artswave / Fine Arts Fund – altafiber was the seventh-most generous organization in the 2016 campaign.
- Connect Cincinnati – We are investing in fiber and wifi infrastructure across the city to enable free, high-speed Wi-FI access at major public venues, and to connect local businesses to prospects via special offers and mobile marketing with the Connect Cincinnati mobile app (Android Download | Apple Download).
- Cincinnati Streetcar - Supporting the Cincinnati Streetcar is another example of our commitment to economic development in the region. The Cincinnati Bell Connector will play an important role in connecting residents, workers and visitors to their jobs and the tremendous entertainment opportunities from The Banks to Over-the-Rhine.
- CincyGive - altafiber's new #CincyGive campaign launched recently with the public release of the "Home" T-Shirt. The proceeds from the T-shirt will go to four local charities: CancerFree KIDS, The Dragonfly Foundation, USO of Central and Southern Ohio, and Spca Cincinnati.
