Last August, altafiber and the Oregon District Business Association announced that altafiber and multiple partners donated the upfront investments to deploy Smart City Solutions in the Oregon District. altafiber Technicians have been installing fiber to provide free public Wi-Fi, as well as analytics and engagement software to support local businesses and drive economic development.
This free public Wi-Fi will extend on 5th Street from Wayne Avenue to Patterson Boulevard and is found by searching Oregon District Free Wi-Fi from your device. Cameras will also be installed and located throughout the business district, alleyways, and various parking lots to support law enforcement safety initiatives. Consumers and businesses in the area now have the opportunity to sign up for 1 Gig High Speed Internet to provide free public Wi-Fi.
“altafiber and our partners are committed to supporting the City of Dayton and Oregon District Business Association,” said Jason Praeter, President and General Manager of altafiber's Entertainment and Communications business. “As a lifelong Dayton resident currently residing in Bellbrook, I am especially proud that altafiber is a part of this important project.”
“We are so incredibly grateful for altafiber’s generosity,” said Kyle Babirad, President of the Oregon District Business Association. “The importance of connectivity within the Oregon District cannot be overstated. altafiber’s work with us improves our ability to connect with each other and with the broader Dayton community.”
